The Community Foundation is proud to work in concert with several funding partners that support one or more of our priority areas noted below.

Our partners are:

All preliminary proposals are submitted to The Community Foundation and our staff team determines which funding partner(s) will consider the organization’s proposal. The deadlines for preliminary proposals are November 5 (winter cycle) and May 5 (summer cycle) by 5pm.

A limited number of organizations will be invited to submit fully-developed proposals. Those that do will receive specific guidelines and forms at that time. Final grant decisions are made in the third week of March and the third week of September, respectively.

Our Grant Process

Eligibility

  • Proposals are accepted from 501(c)(3) charitable organizations serving Greater Richmond and/or the Tri-Cities.
  • All preliminary proposals must be submitted to The Community Foundation, which determines the funding partner that will consider the request.
  • Organizations are limited to competitive grant support one time in a calendar year from TCF and/or its funding partners. From time to time, exceptions may be made if funding partners extend an invitation or undertake a special initiative.

Grant Priorities

We focus on four areas of community life that are most likely to produce positive and lasting change in Central Virginia.

We work closely with our funding partners and grantees to advance these goals:

  • Cultural Vibrancy: Our goal is for community members to access and appreciate arts and cultural opportunities.
  • Economic Prosperity: Our goal is for our region's resources to be sustainable and our residents to be economically stable and secure.
  • Educational Success: Our goal is for young people to achieve in school, engage in their community and be prepared for the workforce.
  • Health & Wellness: Our goal is for community members to be safe and healthy.

Grant Amount

Grants typically range from $5,000 to $100,000. Occasionally, we will identify a limited number of projects to receive grants in excess of the current guidelines.
