Biography:
Thomas G. Snead, Jr. is the retired chairman and chief executive officer of WellPoint Inc.’s southeast region. Previously, he was chairman and chief executive officer of Trigon Healthcare Inc.at the time it was acquired by Anthem and, following a second merger, later re-named WellPoint. Tom joined the company in 1985 and went on to serve the company for 20 years. Tom serves on the boards of Child Fund, Virginia Historical Society, VCU School of Business Foundation and the VCU Health System. He is also the Vice Rector of Virginia Commonwealth University. Tom is the former chairman of the Virginia Health Care Foundation and currently serves on VHCF’s Board of Advisors. Tom and his wife Vickie are founding directors of the Snead Family Foundation, a private non-operating foundation.
