Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence
Background
Fostering operating excellence in the local charitable sector has been a part of The Community Foundation's grants portfolio for 15 years. We know that our community is best served when nonprofits develop and maintain strong and engaged board leadership, fiscal transparency, well-trained and knowledgeable staff, and when organizations pursue their charitable missions with strategic focus.
As the skill sets needed for effective and sustainable organizational management become increasingly complex, area funders are expanding their efforts to foster operating excellence in the sector. The Community Foundation helped to facilitate the creation of the Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence in December 2006.
Purpose
The purpose of the Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence is to both meet the needs of individuals and agencies and to improve the collective strength of the region’s nonprofit sector with a focus on the following core areas:
- Professional development
- Community knowledge
- Civic engagement
- Organizational development
Partners
The Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence brings together the programs of ConnectRichmond, Consulting Solutions, HandsOn Greater Richmond and Nonprofit Learning Point under one umbrella to ensure nonprofits across the region have access to high quality professional development, networking and training opportunities, and resources critical to the success of Richmond’s charitable sector.
