What is The Amazing Raise 2011?
Last fall, The Community Foundation launched GiveRichmond.org as a way to broadly share knowledge about local nonprofits and the important issues facing our region. In addition, this powerful online tool is designed to make giving easy. It delivers the transparency donors need to make the kinds of decisions that turn a simple act of giving into a wise investment. GiveRichmond now provides in-depth information about nearly 350 local nonprofits. Approximately half have received donations through the site. Encouraged by this support and In celebration of our 1stanniversary, GiveRichmond.org will host a special giving event on October 5th and 6th to benefit organizations featured on the site.
The Amazing Raise 2011 is a 36-hour donation period designed to expand and increase giving to local nonprofits that are such an essential part of the health and vibrancy of our region. Other metropolitan areas that have held similar events have raised well over $1 million in a single day. We can do it too! The Community Foundation has committed $100,000 in incentive grant prizes to help leverage credit card donations received via GiveRichmond during this period.
To make this a true community event, we encourage as many people as possible to participate in The Amazing Raise. Our goal is to reach 5,000 donors. In a new announcement, The Community Foundation will add $50,000 in prizes if we meet this threshold and an additional $50,000 if we reach 10,000 donors.
