TCF at the Richmond Folk Festival

Earlier this year, The Community Foundation made a $300,000 grant to Venture Richmond in support of the Richmond Folk Festival through 2013, continuing a commitment that dates back to 2005.  We are pleased to be a part of this free event, designed to bring the Richmond community together to celebrate its diversity and to experience music, artistic works and cultural traditions.  This year, the Richmond Folk Festival attracted a record-breaking crowd of 200,000 people, representing the largest and most diverse audience to date.

Festival Attendees Put Their "Stamp" on Richmond

This year, The Community Foundation hosted a community art project at the Richmond Folk Festival in partnership with HandsOn Greater Richmond and Art On Wheels.  Over the course of the weekend, more than 1,000 people stopped by our tent to put their "stamp" on Richmond.  The mural, created from ink stamp impressions, represents the Japanese Gardens at Maymont and will be displayed there as part of the 100th anniversary of the Japanese Gardens in 2012.  Please go by and take a look at what you - the community - helped to create!

Ways to Give Back

Participating in the Richmond Folk Festival was a great opportunity for The Community Foundation to demonstrate its commitment to serve, engage and inspire the region through philanthropy and volunteerism.  If you are interested in learning how to become more engaged in your community, please see below for information about collaborative grantmaking and volunteer opportunities.

Impact 100 Richmond

Impact 100 Richmond is a grassroots effort that champions the power of women giving together.  The goal is to change the lives of women and their families by transforming a local nonprofit through a significant, collective financial investment.  Our strategy is simple: 100 women give $1,000 each to create a $100,000 grant to benefit a mutually-selected nonprofit.  More than 100 women are welcome to join, however, and our impact will be that much greater!  Learn more
