Mathews Community Foundation
The Mathews Community Foundation (MCF) was created in 1999 to build community endowments that strengthen the fabric of Mathews County in perpetuity. Its success is found in donors and business partners who generously support MCF's operations and grantmaking, and in nonprofits that share their expertise to help identify and address the area's most pressing needs. In 2010, MCF awarded $145,000 in grants to benefit local citizens. The Mathews Safety Net Fund continued to be an important source of support for individuals and families who are experiencing hardships as a result of the recession. In addition, three new funds established in 2010 further enhance MCF's ability to impact areas such as historic preservation and student achievement.
