Alice Haynie Dameron Scholarship
Description
The Alice Haynie Dameron Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 by Ms. Dameron, a long time educator in the Northern Neck. The scholarship supports qualifying high school graduates residing in Northumberland County, Virginia. Scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need and preference will be given to students who are members of First Baptist Church, Heathsville, Macedonia Baptist Church, Heathsville and Shiloh Baptist Church, Burgess.
Eligibility
An eligible student must be a graduating high school senior residing in Northumberland County.
An eligible applicant must demonstrate financial need, a commitment to academic achievement, and a commitment to serving his or her community.
An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year community college, college or university, vocational or technical institution the following academic year.
Preference will be given to students who are members of First Baptist Church, Heathsville, Macedonia Baptist Church, Heathsville and Shiloh Baptist Church, Burgess.
How Winners Are Chosen
- Academic achievement will be evaluated based on grade point average and SAT scores.
- Financial need will be evaluated on the basis of the completed financial aid forms, information regarding pending scholarship applications, if any and a statement of financial need.
- Involvement in the community through public service.

Send the attached completed application including:
- Supporting documents outlined on application form
- Personal statement outlining your high school experience and your educational and life goals (if you are a member of First Baptist Church, Heathsville, Macedonia Baptist Church, Heathsville or Shiloh Baptist Church, Burgess, please include this information in your statement).
Please fill out the attached financial aid form as instructed and send it to the university/college(s) for completion. The school will forward it to The Community Foundation.
