Central Virginia Scholarship

Description

The Central Virginia Scholarship Program was established in 1993 by anonymous donors concerned with metropolitan Richmond's outstanding students who are unable to attend the colleges of their choice because of cost. The program realizes that private colleges are often more expensive than public universities. The intent of this scholarship is to help to bridge the gap for worthy students whose preference is to attend private institutions.

Eligibility

An eligible student must be a high school graduate of a public or private high school in Richmond City, Henrico, Chesterfield or Hanover.

An eligible student must demonstrate outstanding academic work, financial need, and strong participation in school activities and community services.

An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university in the continental United States the following academic year.

Preference will be given to students planning to attend private colleges, especially those in the state of Virginia.

How Winners Are Chosen
