Elizabeth (Beth) Claire Strother, a graduate of Thomas Dale High School, died tragically in 1995. Beth’s family established this award, in her memory, to allow her commitment to family, friends and her community thrive in the accomplishments of the students who receive it. The purpose of this scholarship is to support post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying graduates of Thomas Dale High School, Chesterfield County, Virginia. The recipient of the scholarship will be a student who best exemplifies Ms. Strother’s commitment to her family, friends and school.

Eligibility

An eligible student must be a senior attending Thomas Dale High School, 3626 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831.

An eligible student must demonstrate a commitment to school activities and participation in school sponsored athletics.

An eligible student must have a solid academic record.

An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university in the continental United States the following academic year.

How Winners Are Chosen

  • Academic achievement based on grade point average and SAT scores;
  • Financial need based on the completed financial aid forms and information regarding pending scholarship applications, if any; and
  • Commitment to school activities and sports based on the student's extracurricular involvement
  • Faculty recommendation.
