Eugenia T. Bumpass Education Scholarship


The Eugenia T. Bumpass Education Fund was established in 1999 to support post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying graduates of high schools in Louisa County.


An eligible student must be enrolled at a high school in Louisa County at the start of the student's senior academic year. Students who transfer to the school during their senior year are not eligible.

An eligible student must demonstrate solid academic work, financial need, and strong participation in school and community service activities.

An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year and plan to enroll in an accredited 2-year or 4-year college or university in the continental United States the following academic year.

Preference may be given to applicants planning to attend University of Virginia, James Madison University, The College of William & Mary, Mary Washington College, and Virginia Commonwealth University.  

How Winners Are Chosen

Academic achievement based on grade point average and test scores (SAT and/or ACT).

Financial need based on the completed FAFSA Report Summary - Demonstration of Financial Need form and information regarding pending scholarship applications, if any.

Leadership in school activities and involvement in the community through public service.

Personal Statement Topic: Post-secondary academic interests
