Holstein Scholarship


Description

The Holstein Scholarship was established in 2006 to award educational scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Colonial Heights or Petersburg public schools who plan to attend a college or university. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, community involvement and financial need.  

Eligibility

An eligible student must attend Colonial Heights or Petersburg public schools.

An eligible student must demonstrate financial need, a commitment to academic achievement, and a commitment to serving his or her community.

An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year college, community college or vocational school the following academic year. 

How Winners Are Chosen

Academic achievement will be evaluated based on transcripts of academic performance.

Financial need will be evaluated on the basis of the completed financial aid forms, pending scholarships, if any, and a statement of financial need.

Community involvement will be evaluated on the basis of the student's extracurricular school activities.

Recommendation of school principal and response to personal statement.

How to Apply

Send the attached completed application including:

  • Supporting documents outlined on application form
  • Recommendation of school principal
  • Personal statement of future goals
  • Statement of financial need

Complete top portion of attached financial aid form for each college/university being considered and send directly to financial aid office. College/university will complete form and return to The Community Foundation.
