Koval Family Scholarship
Description
The Koval Family Scholarship was established in 2005 to support post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying college bound Richmond-area minority students in need of financial assistance. Scholarships are to be used by the student to assist in some of the expenses associated with attending college and will be awarded to students who demonstrate financial need, good moral character, and a commitment to learning.
Eligibility
An eligible student must be a minority student of a public high school in the Cities of Richmond and Petersburg and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and Powhatan.
An eligible student must demonstrate financial need, scholastic commitment and academic promise, and a commitment to serving his or her community.
An eligible student must be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year college, community college or vocational school the following academic year.
How Winners Are Chosen
Scholastic commitment and academic promise will be evaluated based on regular attendance, high school transcripts, and SAT/ACT or standardized test scores.
Financial need will be evaluated on the basis of the completed financial aid forms and pending scholarships, if any.
Commitment to community will be evaluated on the basis of the student's extracurricular school activities and involvement in the community through public service.

Send the attached completed application including:
- Supporting documents outlined on application form
- Personal statement of future goals and how this contribution to their educational costs will make a difference
Complete top portion of attached financial aid form for each college/university being considered and send directly to financial aid office. College/university will complete form and return to The Community Foundation.
