Mary Lou Lukhard Nursing Scholarship
Description
The Mary Lou Lukhard Nursing Scholarship Fund was established in 2004 by her family to memorialize Mrs. Lukhard, who spent much of her lifetime using her nursing skills to benefit others. She was a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing and taught there for several years. She used her love of nursing and her nursing skills in many community endeavors such as: school clinics, blood banks, and local health clinics. The purpose of the scholarship is to support individuals in Central Virginia who are pursuing a nursing career. Recipients may be graduating high school seniors, recent high school graduates under the age of 21 who are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in college or a post-secondary nursing program, or adults training to become nurses. Adult learners must be 21 or older to apply.
Eligibility
An eligible applicant must be either a graduating senior of a public or private high school in Richmond City, Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Powhatan, Goochland, New Kent and Charles City who is planning to pursue a career in nursing; a recent high school graduate under the age of 21 who is currently enrolled or plans to enroll in college or a post-secondary nursing program; or an adult in the metro-Richmond area who is training to become a nurse.
An eligible applicant must demonstrate strong academic work, financial need, and a commitment to serving his or her community.
