Perry-White Charitable Scholarships


Description

The scholarship program was set up under the will of Emma Warrener White Perry for the benefit of worthy high school graduates of the Hopewell, Prince George, Petersburg, Colonial Heights areas and the following high schools in Chesterfield: Matoaca, Thomas Dale, L.C. Bird, and Meadowbrook. Scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to students who have been admitted to one of the following six Virginia schools: College of William & Mary, Longwood College, Randolph-Macon College, Randolph College, The School of Pharmacy, MCV/VCU, University of Virginia.

Eligibility

An eligible student must be a senior attending a state-accredited public high school in the Tri-Cities, Prince George County or Chesterfield County.

An eligible student must demonstrate outstanding commitment to academics, school and community activities.

An eligible student must plan on attending one of the following six Virginia schools: College of William & Mary, Longwood College, Randolph-Macon College, Randolph College, The School of Pharmacy MCV/VCU, University of Virginia.

How Winners Are Chosen

Commitment and involvement in extracurricular and community service activities;

Academic achievement based on transcript and academic honors;

Future goals; and

Demonstration of financial need.

Award Amounts

$1,000 each year for up to 4 years

How to Apply

Send the attached completed application including:

  • Supporting documents outlined on application form
  • Personal statement outlining future goals and financial need.

Complete top portion of attached financial aid form for each college/university being considered and send directly to financial aid office. College/university will complete form and return to The Community Foundation.

Renewing Your Scholarship

College students who are presently receiving this scholarship, and have maintained good academic standing, may reapply by submitting the completed application form together with a transcript of their grades for the preceding school term and academic year.

Please provide a brief letter describing your campus activities, academic progress, and any changes in your financial status.

Applications for continued assistance will be considered on a competitive basis.
